Hunger Games Chapter One (In District 8):

When Lacy was born, her mother and father had to seperate due to her father having to be punished for a crime he did not commit. Since his only treasure was his wife and twin daughters, it was best, in the Capitol's mind, that they become separated.

Lacy was probably seven months when she was forced to move into District Eight. She misses her sister and her father and the lifestyle in District Seven. It wasn't much but it was better than District Eight, where fumes were arising the air and no grass was to be seen.

Lacy's checked her watch, one hour until reaping. In her mother's little cottage, she weaves probably the billionth pair of booties and billionth hat. Her mother sewn in little designs on a shirt and folded it on a pile.

"Lacy?"

"Yes?"

"Can you deliver the packages to Mrs. Dawson across the two blocks? Wear a coat so you won't get your pink dress dirty."

"Yes, Mother," Lacy said as she put on a coat and ran to outside to her bike with the package. She placed the package inside the basket and rode her bike over to Mrs. Dawson's cottage. She threw her bike on the ground and retrieved the package. Lacy ran and knocked on the wooden door. An old hag that not a lot of children in the District 8 swung the door open.

"You children are so loud!" she yelled.

"Good morning, Mrs. Dawson!" Lacy said brightly, "Here's your package."

"It's about time, what have you been doing, lolly gagging I suppose?"

"No ma'am, I have not been gagging on lollipops. It's nice to know you care," Lacy teased.

"Smart Aleck are you?" Mrs. Dawson growled, grabbing the package and slamming the door on Lacy's face.

"Nice lady, she is," Lacy remarked, pedaling back home. She passed some people crowding around the town square and heard a boy, possibly Sheldon, an idiot boy, yell, "I LOVE KELLY NAP!" Lacy thinks to herself, Who the hell is Kelly Nap?
